These monogram decals for the back of the chairs at your wedding or reception are a terrific way to instantly personalize your wedding. How many times have you seen these white padded folding chairs at weddings? How many times have you seen them monogrammed? Exactly! Be the first of your friends to have monogrammed chairs at your wedding! I would recommend ordering just one and trying it first to see how easily it can be removed after a minimum of 10 hours without leaving any residue on the chair. Let me know! I really like this idea. They are advertised at $15 for 8. Find them at http://dalidecals.com/Wedding-Reception-Chair-Monograms-Wall-Decal-Sticker-Graphic.html

Aimee with Celebrity Wedding Planner Sasha Souza

I’m going through some old photos and I came across this picture of me with Sasha Souza of www.sashasouzaevents.com. Sasha is a celebrity wedding planner in LA and the author of Weddings by Sasha: Magnificient Weddings By Design (love that book!). I had the opportunity to meet Sasha and hear her speak on design and color at an industry event. I love her no nonsense approach to being a wedding planner and her constant search to be inspired. I attend as many national and local industry events as I can to stay on top of the trends and get an opportunity to learn from national (and international) leaders in the wedding biz. On the same trip I got to meet Steve Kemble of Whose Wedding Is It Anyway fame and Darcy Miller of Martha Stewart Weddings but those photos really didn’t turn out too well!

Flowers To Go Favor by Martha Stewart Weddings

Flowers are such a key component of any wedding. Depending on the style of centerpiece you’ve chosen you may not be able to let your guests take a centerpiece home because the vases are rentals from the florist. Martha Stewart Weddings posted a great solution to letting your guests take home a few blooms and doing double duty as a wedding favor. Have waterproof cellophane bags printed with your names, wedding date or whatever you want and provide those with twist ties and a sign explaining to your guests to please pick a few blooms for the ride home. Viola! Instant flowers to go! I would also suggest a few mini watering cans with a very narrow spout and a note to add just a splash of water for the trip. You could spray paint the cans to go with your wedding theme or keep them a natural tin for texture. Go to  http://tinyurl.com/3b447m3 to see the post on Martha’s site. Who doesn’t love taking home flowers at the end of the night?!

Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, VA

Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg,Virginia is one of the premier wedding venues in the Washington,DC area. Brides come from DC to Virginia’s Hunt Country to enjoy Oatlands Plantation’s expansive grounds, meticulous gardens, and historic mansion. Couples usually choose to hold their wedding ceremony in the garden with a cocktail hour in another tier of the garden followed by a tented reception. If the beautiful property wasn’t enough to make you fall in love with Oatlands, then perhaps the fact that 80% of the property rental fees can be considered a tax-deductible contribution will sway the more dollars and cents couple! Every site rental supports the preservation and operation of this historic wedding venue. Virgina has become a mini Napa Valley with it’s numerous vineyards, rolling countryside and charming inns. Many couples in the Washington,DC metro area really appreciate good wine and want to incorporate it into their wedding planning. This eco-friendly monogram made out of wine corks is so easy to make and would be a great keepsake to display in your home long after your wedding day has past.  Visit http://tinyurl.com/3twrqgu  for more photos.

Here are the simple directions: 1. Pick out all corks you’d like to use, save the pretty ones for the outer trim 2. Plug in the hot glue gun and add one by one. Place a dot of glue on the bottom and a strip halfway up the side to attach previous cork – set in place. Wait a few seconds between each one to let it set. 3. Clean up any strands you may have made with the glue 4. Attach hangers onto back 5. Hang!

Meet Lysette and Joe~ the winners of a complimentary design session with True Wedding Events. Lysette and Joe won the session at the Blue Ridge Bridal Showcase. http://www.blueridgebridalshow.com/ After getting to know more about Lysette & Joe and what makes them “click” as well as their current wedding plans, True Wedding Events went to work on a complimentary design proposal for the overall feel and look of their wedding.  The Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel, a historic property in Washington,DC with a glam 1920s atmosphere and just blocks from The White House will be the backdrop for their wedding reception. http://www.hamiltonhoteldc.com/  The couple has undergraduate degrees in political science (hence their attraction to The Hamilton) and are both pursuing graduate degrees. Their passions included reading, writing and, for Lysette, scrapbooking.

Since both Lysette & Joe are academics with a passion for reading, history and politics a vintage book theme for their wedding with personal touches created by Lysette was the foundation of True Wedding Events’ design. The groom really lit up when we proposed giving the bar a speakeasy vibe since the 1920s was the area of Prohibition. Wanting to stretch their decorating dollars as much as possible, the use of books they already owned stacked in the middle of the table with ribbon and a small floral arrangement on top or cascading flowers were proposed to help tell their story. Each table’s stack of books would focus on one subject that reflected the couple’s travels, hobbies, studies, passions, hometowns, favorite foods, and the list goes on! For the escort cards, real library cards from their university library were suggested. Lysette would utilize her scrapbooking skills and create a custom guest book to look like a hardcover book. Her DIY skills were incorporated into many other aspects of the decor that are too numerous to detail in this blog post. ”The End”.
